Damarukam created a rare record in Telugu Film Industry with repeated postponements. Initially, the makers tried to give color coating for the delay by saying it happened due to technical issues, but later everyone came to know about the financial crisis. Here are the facts
Due the Damarukam's over-budget (Rs 42 crore), there is a deficit of around Rs 11 crore even after selling the theatrical rights of all the areas. Noted film financier, for whom the producer has to pay Rs 10 crore, stalled the movie release demanding to clear the dues. As the makers weren't in a position to adjust all that amount, Nagarjuna returned back the remuneration (Rs 5 crore) he took for the film.
With all the hurdles being cleared now, Damarukam is gearing up for release on November 23 (on the occasion of Naga Chaitanya's birthday). Although the makers failed to cash in on the Diwali advantage, if the film's content is good enough then the Telugu audience will surely make it a profit grosser irrespective of the season. Some good publicity prior to the release will help the film to revive the hype and eventually ensures good openings. Let's wish there will be no more trouble for this troubled-flick!
