Ram Charan who has scored a big hit with Racha last year is back with Naayak, which is also a commercial entertainer with high doses of action and comedy. VV ViNaayak who is known as good commercial director made yet another commercial potboiler.

What is it about?

Charan aka Cherry (Ram Charan) is a guy with cool attitude and doesn't fear anyone. He can tackle any situation with intelligence. However he gets into a problem when CBI suspects him as the main culprit in a serial murders case. There is other side of the story where Siddharth Naayak (Charan) turns into a mass leader at young age. What is the relation between Cherry and Siddharth? What is the reason for serial murders?

Performances:

Ram Charan is very agile and confident in both the characters. However, for obvious reasons the director didn't ask for much variation between both the characters. Hence Charan didn't have to do much as an actor. He has a strong screen presence and he shoulders the film effortlessly.

He is supported by a great star cast where most of them made their presence felt. Jayaprakash Reddy stands out in the comedy department. His serious comedy in a frustrated role is hilarious. Posani Krishna Murali is a surprise package. His comedy with a blank face in the 'Chocolate' scene will have you in splits of laughter. Brahmanandam too made his presence felt, but here the cake is taken by JP. MS Narayana, Venu Madhav and Raghu Babu are alright. They didn't get the best lines like others did.

Rahul Dev, Pradeep Rawath and Ashish Vidhyardhi are alright. Heroines Kajal and Amala Paul have nothing much to do. Kajal got better screen time than Amala. The latter was simply wasted and restricted to a couple of songs. Charmi is fine in the rocking item song.

On the Technical Front:

Songs are already big hit on audio. They are well shot too. Laila O Laila stands out with mind blowing dance moves of Ram Charan. Subhaleka song is a visual treat. Background score is good. Editing is fine. Cinematography is pretty good. Dialogues written by Akula Shiva are witty. His dialogue in comedy scenes worked out very well.

Director ViNaayak made sure that the film has everything to lure the masses and common audience. Critics may cringe a bit about the logical errors and larger than life story, but the much needed entertainment for common audience has been provided. In spite of having an age old revenge story on his hands, ViNaayak's screenplay made it look fresh. He has mixed action with comedy to the hilt.

Analysis:

We have been repeatedly raving about the comedy in Naayak from many days and our sources proved to be right. Comedy is the main highlight in Naayak. More than anything comedy clicks and how? Comedy scenes have clicked so well that audience will remember only those scenes after they leave the theaters.

They have added repeat value to the film as the comedy is fresh and appealing. Added to that there are Ram Charan's superb dances and songs too. It has fair amount of action for action lovers. It is a complete film which offers something every kind of audience. The movie has been inspired a lot from various hit films, but the director gets the formula correct.

First half of the film is just okay with a decent interval bang. Second half is the heart of the movie where the real story unfolds. However the pace slows down a bit at one point and ViNaayak comes back with a superb comedy scene which gets things back on track. Serious action film turns into a comic entertainer with a simple twist in the tale.

That made the difference for Naayak to become a better commercial film as the comedy clicked right before the super catchy Hey Naayak song. Climax could have been better. The biggest plus points of the movie is it never bores you and runs at a very good pace throughout. It has all the stuff to be a winner in this pongal season. The movie has already opened to superb mouth talk all over.

Verdict: Perfect dish for Pongal audience - Naayak!
