Tollywood Faces Huge Embarrassment !!

In a major setback to Tollywood, none of the Telugu films have been qualified for screening at the 43rd International Film Festival of India which will be held from November 19 in Goa. Country's best films will be showcased to International audience at Indian Paorama.

About 9 Telugu films have been watched by the three sub-groups of jury and they sent only four out of them to the central committee as the remaining five didn't meet the parameters. While the films selected include Minugurulu, Ela Aithe Ela, Mallela Theeram and Maa Voori Jogini, the rejected ones are Oka Romantic Crime Katha, Veerangam, Prathyayanam and Omkaram.

However, the central committee hasn't chosen any of those four Telugu films on the grounds that entries that would bring Indian Cinema recognition in front of an international audience will alone be selected. 18 films from different languages have been selected for Indian Panorama which include regional films in Malayalam movies, Tamil and Kannada, but not Telugu which is another big embarrassment.

Of course, there is nothing to fault central committee as none of the Telugu films sent for reviewing have enough stuff to qualify. The questions need to be answered is that how could a film like Oka Romantic Crime Katha find a place in the list and why didn't the critically acclaimed Eega wasn't considered at least for selection. It's time to wake up for Tollywood, or else everything goes out of hands completely.
