Many unexpected things have happened in 2012 and that opened new doors for some while closing the chances of some people. On a whole it is really strange as to why all of them happened in the same year.

Raviteja: Our star commercial hero always had one single hit in a calendar year even though his other ventures tumbled at Box Office. But this time, all this four films including Nippu, Daruvu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu and Sarocharu are big flops. They say that he lost his golden streak and Mass Raju should really work on this.

Nitin: With almost 12 flop films after Rajamouli's 'Sye', young hero Nitin was a disappointed jack until he has seen new hopes with 'Ishq'. The film is a trendsetting hit for him and he is on a rage now with three movies in hand. Even Telugu industry felt happy as its very own hero got rid of that flop-hero tag.

Shruti Hasan: The super flop of movies like 'Anaganaga O Dheerudu', '3', 'Oh My Friend' and '7th sense' have labelled her as Iron-Leg girl. But things got overturned for her with Powerstar's 'Gabbar Singh' becoming the mega blockbuster of year. Shruti became a busy actress in both Tollywood and Bollywood. Charan's 'Yevadu' and Raviteja's 'Balupu' are her upcoming films.

Ileana: From a couple of years, Ileana was tasting only flops and in the form of 'Julayi', there came a big relief for her in Tollywood. However, the ravishing beauty felt that she is required only for her body in Telugu films, and tried to show her acting-skills for Bollywood. That's it, she got huge critical acclaim through 'Barfi' and she is a big name in B-town now.

Nayantara: Though she is a proved seductress in Tollywood, her affair with Prabhudeva, exit from film after 'Sri Rama Rajyam' are two big things. Surprisingly, she broke up with him and came back to acting with 'Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum'. Rather acting in movies, Nayan had shown a proper Telugu movie through her life.

Brahmins Vs Mohan Babu: The film 'Denikaina Ready' has stirred a big fight between Brahmin community and actor Mohan Babu. They alleged that the actor has insulted their community and their women through this movie. Surprisingly this film happens to be first hit for Manchu Vishnu after 'Dhee' movie. All the tussles helped the flick get huge publicity and collections. The issue is still in court.
 
Woman In Brahmanism: This is not a film that is ready to be screened in theatres but its raunchy trailer on YouTube has enraged Brahmin communities in our state. After a lot of protest and political pressures, the film's clips are removed from internet.
 
Lawrence Is Not Rebel: Though Lawrence exaggerated the result of 'Rebel' during audio launch, he failed to deliver the output. The film failed and producers complained against him for crossing the said initial budget. Finally, our dance master has to pay 2.5 crores fine to producers.
 
Yes Teacher: While the movie name is 'Sorry Teacher', many women's organizations have objected about this 'hot' teacher and the case was fought in court. But finally a clearance was given for release, and the makers have cashed on the craze through openings and satellite-rights.

Director Playing football with Prabhas !!

S S Rajamouli happens to be a superstar director, but even he tends to draw inspiration from other blockbusters. That happened many a times and here is the latest report about it.

Obviously, S S Rajamouli's 'Sye' is an true inspiration from Amir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Lagaan' movie. In that superhit Hindi flick, they play cricket to settle the tax issue, while in 'Sye' they play rugby to settle playground issue. Wide discussions are happening in Film Nagar now that Rajamouli is gearing ahead to draw inspiration from another hindi flick now. It happens to be blockbuster movie 'Chak De' that highlights the need to stay united for Indians. However the central theme of this hair rising flick is Hockey game, while Rajamouli has chosen Foot Ball, say sources.

Most surprising thing is that this 'foot ball film' happens to be the film he is going to make with Prabhas, but not a period flick as in publicity. Maybe it is for this reason Prabhas is heard practising foot ball from a couple of weeks to get the moves and kicks right. Let us wait for some official news.

We are not new to films that are set up with Yama Lokam backdrop. Telugu cinema has been churning out good number of 'Yama movies' in the recent past. It is Allari Naresh's turn to test this formula.

What is it about?

Naresh (Allari Naresh) marries Lord Yama (Sayaji Shinde) daughter Yamaja (Richa Panai) in a stage play and she comes after him saying that he is her real husband. When Naresh too falls for her Yama comes from Yama Loka to take back his daughter. Naresh follows him there as he has special powers.

Performances:

Naresh has done well within his limitations. He is at ease in comedy scenes and did his best in emotional situations. Richa Panai is just a glam doll. Sayaji Shinde didn't suit the role of Yama. Master Bharat as Young Yama is good. Krishna Bhagavan is hilarious and Raghu Babu is loud. Ramya Krishna is decent. Tanikella Bharani is topnotch.

On the Technical Front:

Koti's music is not good. Except for Atho Athamma kooturo remix nothing really works. Dialogues are good with fine one liners. Graphics are okay and the art department has done a neat job. Production values are good for a film with medium range star cast.

Director Sattibabu made sure that there is enough comedy in the film to make the film 'paisa vasool entertainer'. He should have written a better screenplay to make it a better film. As of now it is just an average effort from the director.  

Analysis:

First half of the film races ahead with right doses of entertainment. Barring a couple of unwanted comedy scenes, first half is pretty decent with an interesting interval bang. People would expect the second half to be more fun.

However, the film fell short of expectations in the latter half as the director tried to make it a commercial film. Had he stuck to the comedy genre Yamudiki Mogudu might have scored more marks. There is not enough comedy in the second half.

The film drags on and on towards the climax. Joker song is completely unnecessary during the penultimate scene. This is where the film loses steam and ends up as an average fare. Most of Allari Naresh's films did well even with weaker content than this. So this should fare well at the box office too.

Gautham Menon is known for making beautiful romantic films and this is brand GM film with all the elements that we expect from his movie. Tad slow yet feel good movie.

What is it about?

Varun (Nani) and Nithya (Samantha) are childhood friends who fall in love in their teenage. Certain egos and personal goals come between them and their love will be put to test. How they overcome all the hurdles is what this film is about.

Nani is superb as Varun. He is a very natural actor who could easily go into the skin of any character. We have seen him doing energetic and entertaining characters before. This time he plays a soft spoken boy next door who is madly in love. He has come up with winning performance. Samantha is a revelation. She has proven as a fine actress before, but this time she delivers an excellent performance. Her expressions are very good. Krishnudu and the rest of the star cast are good.

On the Technical Front:

Music by Ilayaraja is decent. Couple of songs are haunting and background score is nice. Cinematography is beautiful. Editing is okay. Technically the movie is up to the mark.

Director Gautham Menon proves that he has great command over romantic tales. He captures minute details in love and this film is not an exception to it. However he should have mixed right dose of entertainment to make this appeal to all the sections of audiences. For now it is only the movie that will appeal to those who are in love. As a director this may not be Gautham's best, but it is definitely not bad.

Analysis:

Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu doesn't have any story. It is just a journey of a couple who come across different situations in their life. Like every Guatham movie, this also moves at its own pace. It hardly moves at times and gets stuck to one point more than once. That may not go down well with the audiences who hate watching slow romantic films.

Most of the movie is conversational and people who expect punches will be disappointed. Why because the conversations are very natural and personal. So if you are not involved into the film they might seem boring. Music and performance of the lead pair are the main assets for this film which has its moments.

It is a very urbane film with feel good factor which would appeal to young hearts. It depends on your tastes and feelings whether to like it or not. Target audiences should help this film to sail safe at the box office. Will they? Let's wait and watch.
